Governor of Adamawa State Ahmadu Fintiri has donated 10 cows, 50 bags of rice and 10 Jerri cans of vegetable oil to 1,309 corps members posted to the state to cushion the current hardship faced by them.
At the opening of the orientation course in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Damare, the governor said the gesture was to bring succour to 1,309 Batch A Stream II corps members posted to the state.
Fintiri said he was glad to hear that among the corps members deployed to the state, they chose cooking as their hobby and therefore they needed to be encouraged to do more.
He said, “I am glad to hear young men, whose hobby is cooking, welcome to the kitchen.”
He commended the federal government for empowering over 3.5 million corps members in different vocations with skills, start-up capital and other business incentives.
The governor represented by the deputy governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta equally appreciated NYSC stakeholders’ efforts geared towards making the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme more functional.
“My dear compatriots, since January this year, we commenced the payment of N10,000 monthly allowance to all corps members serving in Adamawa State to cushion the biting effects of inflation currently being experienced.”
The new state coordinator, Mal. Muhammed Lawan Ahmed expressed happiness over the recent emergence of the governor as the prestigious Vanguard Personality of the Year 2023 Award recipient.
Ahmed said NYSC as a direct beneficiary of result-oriented stewardship of the present government, the award is not only well deserved, but also has not come as a surprise.
“In specific terms, your generosity in augmenting the feeding of corps members and camp officials just for the maximum comfort of these children and camp officials is always appreciated.
“Similarly, being the NYSC Friendly Governor you are, you graciously pioneered the payment of N10,000 as monthly allowance to all corps members serving in Adamawa State, out of your passionate consideration for the current economic realities these children have found themselves,” he said.
