Hardship: Lagos Assembly Tasks Sanwo-Olu On Stakeholders’ Meeting

Lagos State House of Assembly has called on the governor of the state Babajide Sanwo-Olu to summon a stakeholders meeting involving members representing the state in the national and state assemblies as well the local government and Councillors to find a lasting solution to the rising cost of living and proffer solutions.

The House made the call in support of a motion moved by Hon. Segun Ege representing Ojo Constituency 1 under “matters of urgent public interest”.

Adopting the motion, the speaker, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa identified efforts of the state governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other agencies of government in distribution of palliative including N50,000 to each trader in some parts of Lagos but that more still needs to be done at all levels of government.

He enjoined the House Committees on Agriculture and Transportation to summon the Commissioner for Agriculture Ms. Ruth Abisola Olusanya and her Transportation counterpart Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi to brief the committee’s on efforts being made to enhance Agriculture and ameliorate problem of transportation in the interim.

While calling on the government to make sports attractive through investment in sports infrastructure that will help remove youths from the streets, the speaker implored the government to engage manufacturers and traders with a view to reduce inflation.

Obasa emphasised the need for the Commissioner of Information Mr Gbenga Omotosho to intimate the public on efforts made by the government to ameliorate the current hardship instead of the negative news that had always made the rounds.
