Africa’s leading non-governmental housing advocacy organisation, Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN), has finalised  plans to unveil the affordable housing hall of fame 2022, to honour those who have made significant impact in the provision of affordable housing for Nigerians.

The event will also honour other Nigerians whose legacies have continued to inspire millions of people due to their significant contributions to the development of the nation’s housing sector.

Former vice president, Alex Ekeueme, former civilian governor of Lagos State, the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande, the late Professor Akin Mabogunje, the Engineer S.O. Fadahunsi, and the former presidents of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors, the late Sir Fortune Ebie were among those posthumously inducted in 2021 for their unparalleled and priceless contributions to affordable housing delivery in Nigeria.

According to the executive director of HDAN, Festus Adebayo, the list of those to be inducted in 2022 include the Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai for policies that created many housing estates in Abuja during his time as the FCT minister.

Also on the list, according to Adebayo is Gbenga Fatimilehin for his great contributions towards delivery of affordable housing.

The posthumous induction will be that of Mallam Abdul Abubakar the founder of Imani and sons.

Adebayo added that the hall of fame was created as a platform to honour those who fought and are still fighting for the growth of affordable housing in the country.

The 2022 edition of the Hall of Fame will take place during the Africa Housing Awards billed for Friday, December 15, in Abuja.
