The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has declared that the ongoing transformation in Nigeria’s civil service results from divine intervention, crediting God’s grace for recent reforms and administrative breakthroughs.

Speaking at the 2025 Civil Service Christian Thanksgiving service held at the Family Worship Centre, Wuye, Abuja, she described the event as “more than a ceremonial tradition but a heartfelt acknowledgment of God’s role in strengthening the nation’s bureaucracy.”

“With a heart full of gratitude and reverence for God Almighty, we gather today to acknowledge His unwavering faithfulness, sustaining grace, and divine guidance in our lives and in our service to Nigeria,” Walson-Jack said.

The thanksgiving, which marked the beginning of the 2025 Civil Service Week, provided an opportunity to reflect on key achievements in policy implementation, service delivery, and institutional accountability over the past year.

“We thank God for creativity, innovation, and reforms that have driven transformative progress across ministries, departments, and agencies. Every achievement in the Civil Service is by His grace, and today, we return all glory to God.

“We are grateful to God for a supportive president whose confidence in Civil Service reform efforts has provided us with policy backing and strategic direction,” she said.

The Head of Service also acknowledged the contributions of development partners, both local and international, who have supported the service through funding, technical assistance, and capacity-building initiatives.

Walson-Jack urged the church to intercede for the Civil Service, calling for sustained spiritual backing, saying: “We humbly request that the church lift the Nigerian Civil Service in prayer, asking that the transformation we earnestly pursue may take root and flourish.”

As the Civil Service Week continues, she charged public servants to remain dedicated, innovative, and patriotic in their duties.

Walson-Jack reaffirmed the service’s commitment to efficiency, transparency, and national development.

“May the Lord bless the work of our hands, renew our strength, and guide our steps. To God alone be all the glory for how far He has brought us,” she said.
