The Zamfara state Director General of Community Protection Guards (CPG), Retired General Lawal Muhammad, late Sunday evening, escaped being killed by bandits along the Tsafe – Funtua highway.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the bandits who blocked the highway attacked Motorists at Kucheri village in Tsafe local government, including the CPG boss, Retire General Lawal Muhammad.

The source who demanded anonymity told LEADERSHIP that those who ambushed the motorists, after several shootings, had kidnapped several travellers to the bush.

According to the source, Retired General Lawal Muhammad was rushed to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital for treatment and later taken to one of the hospitals in Kano for treatment.

The source further said the attack on the head of Zamfara Community Protection Guards was allegedly an attempt by some hiding politicians who don’t want peace to reign in Zamfara, stressing that “the attack on the retired General came after three days of attack that killed eight Personnel of CPG along the same road in Tsafe local government area”.
