Health Minister, Others Set To Unlock Africa’s Healthcare Potential

Africa‘s most influential voices, including Nigeria’s minister of health, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, and renowned virologist Professor Oyewale Tomori, are set to unlock the full potential of healthcare across the continent.

This is even as they will convene at the WHX Lagos and WHX Labs Lagos 2025, to brainstorm on ways to transform the continent’s healthcare systems.

The director of WHX Lagos and WHX Labs Lagos, Tom Coleman, while speaking with newsmen in Lagos, said now in its 12th edition, the annual health conference and exhibition will build on a strong foundation of industry trust and international relevance.

„Having received strong backing from the Federal Ministry of Health and other key industry bodies, we are especially excited about this year’s speaker lineup, which reflects our commitment to curating a diverse, cross-sectoral dialogue led by some of Africa’s most respected thought leaders and innovators,” Coleman averred.

The speaker lineup for WHX Lagos and WHX Labs Lagos 2025 reflects the event’s commitment to pan-African thought leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration. Confirmed speakers include the deputy director-general and Africa regional director at the International Vaccine Institute, Professor Nicaise Ndembi, FAPH; CEO, African Business Coalition for Health, Dr. Mories Atoki; assistant minister of Health for Vital Statistics, Liberia Hon. Dr. Anthony L. Fortune, FAPH; executive director of the International Association of Public Health Logisticians, Timi Omole; celebrated Nigerian actor and entrepreneur Joke Silva, MFR and medical influencer Dr. Egemba Chinonso (Aproko Doctor), among others.

On the laboratory side, WHX Labs Lagos will welcome renowned virologist and former WHO advisor, Professor Oyewale Tomori, DFAPH; acting registrar/CEO, Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Dr. Donald Ofili; director of the Global Health and Infectious Diseases Centre, Akyala Ishaku; CEO of Synlab Nigeria, Kenneth Okolie and other key voices from across Africa’s laboratory science ecosystem.

The 2025 edition will host a diverse and expanded programme of high-impact sessions, expert-led discussions, and interactive engagements across healthcare and laboratory science. The agenda will cover themes such as leadership, investment, digital health, diagnostics, public health, and innovation—delivered in collaboration with trusted partners across the sector.

“From our carefully curated conference content to the diversity of voices and perspectives represented, this year’s edition is designed to spark meaningful conversations, actionable insights, and impactful outcomes within the healthcare and laboratory communities. It’s set to be one of the most relevant, inclusive, and engaging healthcare events the region has ever seen,” the conference director, Rubina Souza, added.

 

WHX Lagos and WHX Labs Lagos 2025 edition has received support from strategic partners including the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria, Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria, ABCHealth, West African Institute of Public Health, Women in Healthcare Network, and others. These partnerships are critical to delivering a future-facing event platform that supports knowledge exchange, investment attraction, and actionable dialogue across the healthcare and laboratory value chains.
