A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, has condemned those desecrating former governor Rev. Jolly Nyame by sponsoring legal actions against him.
Senator Bwacha, spoke shortly after receiving his governorship nomination form reportedly purchased for him by PDP youths in the state.
The former senator expressed displeasure over the recent Federal High Court ruling in Jalingo barring Nyame from contesting the 2027 elections pending clarification on the presidential pardon granted to him.
He said, those behind the move against the former governor were disrespecting an elder statesman who deserved honour from the people of the state.
“Those blacklisting Nyame would not be forgiven by God.
He is a standing father that deserves to be respected by all Tarabans,” Bwacha stated.
He added that disrespecting Nyame amounted to disrespecting the entire state, insisting that the former governor’s legacies continued to impact generations.
“His legacies as governor were not selfish and have stood the test of time,” he said.
LEADERSHIP reports that an Abuja-based loyalist, Barrister Badmus, had instituted a suit before the Federal High Court in Jalingo seeking interpretation of the presidential pardon granted to Nyame after serving more than three years imprisonment over misappropriation of state funds.
The suit also sought an order disqualifying the former governor from contesting future elections.
The court, on Monday, June 4, 2026, ruled that Nyame should not participate in the 2027 electoral process pending explicit clarification of the presidential pardon.
Speaking further, Bwacha pledged to restore public confidence in governance and reposition the state if elected governor in 2027.
“My desire is to restore governance and build trust away from corruption. We will ensure transparency and promote dividends of democracy,” he said.
The 2023 APC governorship candidate promised prudent management of public funds, infrastructural development, youth empowerment and agricultural transformation.
According to him, his administration would establish skills acquisition centres to enable youths become self-reliant and employers of labour.
He also pledged investment in modern agriculture to improve productivity and support farmers across the state.
Senator Bwacha further promised reforms in the education and healthcare sectors through improved facilities, training of personnel and provision of modern equipment in hospitals.
On infrastructure, he said road construction would be given priority to connect rural communities with urban centres and markets.
“We have targets to link rural communities to towns and markets for easy transportation of farm produce. This will enhance connectivity and boost the state’s revenue profile,” he said.
