The Department of Hisba with the Ministry for Religious Affairs in Kebbi State has treated 650 cases from last July to March this year.
Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arch Sani Muhammad Aliyu disclosed this yesterday while briefing journalists in his office in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, the treated cases included issues related to drugs addiction, rape as well as family and religious issues.
He dismissed the insinuations that men of the Department of Hisba often collect bribes on cases saying the ministry has enough resources to finance all its services within and outside its undertakings.
“Our staff in collaboration with security personnel go to places where people particularly women and youth commit social vices and apprehend them and warn them to desist from doing so.
“And sometimes we charge those with high levels of crime to the court for prosecution and all these processes were done within our resources,” he stated.
The commissioner called on people to assist the Hisba Department with useful information on criminal activities in the state with a view to addressing them.
