The Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa has announced the allocation 50 slots to journalists and media workers in the next batch of the state’s mass wedding programme.

Daurawa said the initiative aims to extend the programme’s benefits to professional groups, including members of the media.

Speaking with journalists on Wednesday, Sheikh Daurawa highlighted the success of the previous batch of mass weddings where 1,800 marriages were consummated.

In the light of this success, the Hisbah chief said the board decided to expand the programme to include interested members of various professional fields such as journalism, law, and healthcare.

Sheikh Daurawa explained that the state’s mass wedding initiative was conceived to promote moral values in the society and reducte immorality among young men and women.

By involving more professionals, the board seeks to strengthen community ties and provide support to individuals seeking to get married.

In addition to the expanded mass wedding programme, Sheikh Daurawa disclosed the establishment of the Hisbah Academy in collaboration with local institutions such as Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK), Aminu Kano College of Islamic Legal Studies, Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, and Bayero University, Kano (BUK).

He stressed that the academy which will offer formal education and training in Hisbah work will be awarding certificates to its graduates.
