In a statement signed by the Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, Prof. Grace Umezurike and made available to LEADERSHIP, the sacked aides were directed to hand over all government properties in their possession to the SSG, not later than 4pm on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

The statement also ordered that the sacked officers must not be seen anywhere around the Government House or participate in any government activity.

Reacting to the sack, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Comrade Chukwuemeka Iteshi commended the governor for taking the bold step in ensuring that political office holders adhere to rules guiding their offices.

“We have been appealing to the State Governor before now to take charge of his administration and ensure that those entrusted with responsibilities are seen to be doing the work they were appointed to do. A situation the governor gives directive and people flouting such directive without any fear is highly unacceptable.

“Just recently, IPAC recommended the reshuffling of cabinet as many Commissioners, SSAs and SAs are so redundant that it has continued to affect the administration, but no action was carried out by the Governor.

“With the suspension and sack, I believe that those who are saddled with various responsibility will see the need to work. When you move round the state, Abakaliki that used to be one of the cleanest city in the South-East is now littered, with refuse dumps everywhere. I must commend the governor for the bold step taken,” Comrade Iteshi stated.
