How 5 Niger Children Died Inside Parked Car – Police

Niger State Police Command has given details of how five children were suffocated in a car in Area 1 Albishir, Bida Road, Minna in Niger State.

LEADERSHIP had reported that tragedy struck on Sunday evening when five children of three families unknowingly locked themselves in a stationary car for five hours and suffocated to death.
It was gathered that the five children were made up of three siblings and the names of the children were given as Zahra, 10, Aisha, 7, Fati, 5, Isah, 7 and Amina 13 years.

While Confirming the report, the police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun said at about 6. 30pm on Sunday, based on information received at Kpakungu Division, five children of about five to 13 years of age were found trapped in a Honda Civic vehicle with Reg No. GO 778 ABC at Albishiri Area of Minna.

He added that “They were found to have suffocated in the vehicle, while their bodies were later removed by the various parents, as police visited the scene”.

He said the owner of the vehicle was invited for questioning, as the unfortunate incident is under investigation.
