Odugo’s journey from grassroots football to becoming a trusted agent is a testament to his dedication and passion for the game.

He is currently making waves as one of the youngest and most dynamic FIFA licensed football agents in Abuja.

In an exclusive interview With LEADERSHIP Sports,he said, “I was inspired by the numerous talented youths I have seen move from having the potential of a world-class player to becoming phone technicians, waiters/waitresses, or even becoming a problem to their society by getting involved in petty crimes/social vices.

“All owing to the fact that there was no one to guide and represent them through the path of development to the professional level. I was spotted during my playing days by a few agents.

But unfortunately, they were not certified and knowledgeable enough to render such service and I was also a minor and too young to understand and see through their incompetence. I am not the only one that suffered this; I know a lot of good players who were unable to make it to the professional level because of same problem.

“The solution to the plights of these talents is what inspired me to become a Football Agent; my message to them is simple; “If you can play, then you will play”.

According to the Delta State born football agent there are a lot of ‘fake’ football agents in the African market who take advantage of young talents, but he endeavors to educate talents and their coaches on the need to verify the authenticity and validity of an agent’s license before entering into any contract with them.

“This verification is important because clubs are prohibited by FIFA to have negotiation talks with a non-licensed agent.”He said.

Odugo currently represents 15 players, 13 of whom are playing with clubs, and the remaining two are due to travel for trials and possible signing in this transfer window. He added that talk are ongoing with a few more players and their parents on his availability to represent them and secure a deal.

On how he stays up-to-date with latest tends in the football Industry, he said,” I read sports and transfer market news and also get inside information from my contacts within clubs.

“I am also in touch with sporting directors, recruitment teams of clubs (scouts), and head coaches of European football academies on their need for pure talents.”
