Halimatu Muhammad married early with a heart full of dreams and a home ready for laughter.

But she had one problem that threatened to destroy everything: pregnancy would not come.

In a chat with LEADERSHIP, she narrated, “Year after year, I waited. One year turned to five. Five turned to 10. More than a decade passed before God placed my first baby in my arms.

“They were 10 years of forced smiles at baby showers. Ten years of nodding through painful questions at family meetings. Ten years of “Halimatu, what’s going on?” “Have you tried this?” “Maybe it’s spiritual.”

She continued, “The whispers were loud. The pity was louder. Some days I felt like my womb was a battlefield that I was losing. There were nights I cried until my pillow was wet. Nights I begged God and poured out my heart to Him. I was so close to giving up. So close to believing the lies that maybe I wasn’t worthy.

‘But God had pity on me. When He finally moved, He did it with power. My first child was born, and today that daughter is married with children of her own. And God wasn’t done with me.

“One blessing followed another until my empty arms were full. Today, I am a mother to seven children. Seven miracles. Seven answers to prayers that I prayed with tears,” she recalled.

According to her, the miracle didn’t stop there. ‘I now have four grandchildren from my two children. Four little voices that call me “Grandma” — the same title people said I would never hear.

“I look at my compound now and I see what 10 years of waiting produced: children, grandchildren, noise, joy, and a testimony that silences every mocker. The same womb they counted out has carried a generation.”

To women who are tired of waiting, she advised: “Never give up. Don’t let their questions kill your faith. Don’t let delay make you doubt God. His timing will embarrass your enemies. He may be quiet for 10 years, but when He answers, He overflows your cup until it runs over.

“My waiting was long. But my joy is longer. My pain was deep. But my testimony is deeper. God is not late. He is always right on time,” Halimatu declared.
