Obosa Amadasu, better known as Kokaine-90s, is an emerging artiste who is making waves in the Nigerian music scene.
Known for his raw lyricism and fusion of hip-hop, Afrobeats, and 90s influences, Kokaine-90s is quickly establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with.
In an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP Sunday, he opened up about his journey, inspirations, and what sets him apart from other artists.
“My fans call me Kokaine-90s, I am a recording artist straight out of Benin, Nigeria. Music for me, is a mindset and a movement,” Kokaine-90s began, explaining the depth behind his stage name and the mission driving his work.
“Music has always been my escape, my way of translating emotions into something tangible,” he said. “I was drawn to it naturally, like a calling.”
“Sometimes, a single word, a memory, or even a conversation sparks an entire song.” Freestyling is key to his process, as he allows ideas to flow freely, creating music that feels both organic and raw.
Describing his distinctive sound, Kokaine-90s noted that it is a fusion of classic hip-hop, Afrobeats, and the soulful grit of 90s music.
“I blend raw lyricism, deep storytelling, and the rhythmic heartbeat of Nigeria,” he said.
“What sets me apart is my ability to paint vivid pictures with words. I don’t just rap; I create experiences.”
His latest release, ‘No Holiday’, explores the harsh realities of relentless hustle.
“It talks about the never-ending grind to make something out of nothing,” Kokaine-90s explained.
