Huawei Unveils Storage Solutions For Better Connected Nigeria

Global Information and Communication Technology infrastructure provider, Huawei has unveiled categories of new products that provide end-to-end solutions for data protection, anti-ransomware, and virtualisation, among others, to its Nigerian customers.

The new products were unveiled in Abuja during the Huawei Tech Club 2023 held on Friday, December 1, 2023, with the theme: Create New Value Together.

In his opening remarks at the event, the Managing Director Enterprise Business Group, Huawei Nigeria, Terrens Wu, stated that the company will continue to develop high-quality products and solutions in the industry.In his keynote speech, Huawei’s Director of Nigeria Delivery & Service Business Department (Enterprise) Zhang Mi (Mars), said that the customers have been impressed by its strong local service capabilities in Nigeria, adding that in the future, the company’s original equipment manufacturer (OEM) service team is committed to building professional capabilities by working with local leading partners to create a service ecosystem. Speaking on the topic ‘Redefine Storage to Accelerate Digital Transformation,’ Huawei’s Director of Nigeria Enterprise IT Solution Sales Department, Ding Liusheng, expressed confidence that Huawei Storage will soon become the top choice in Nigeria’s storage industry.

According to Liusheng, Huawei Storage is a global leader with five categories of storage products: all-flash, hybrid flash, hyper-converged, data protection, and distributed storage. He said that the company provides end-to-end solutions for data protection, anti-ransomware, and virtualisation, adding that with 20 years of R&D experience, 1000+ engineers, and 5 R&D centres, Huawei Storage has served over 1600 global institutions, including 51 of the top 100 banks.

While speaking at the event, Huawei Network CTO, Mr. Matamela Mashau, used the opportunity to unveil the high-quality 10GE campus solution with the topic “CloudCampus 3.0 High-Quality Campus Networks, Inspiring Digital Innovation.” He stated that as a leader, the company has released the latest generation of Wi-Fi 7 products: AirEngine 8771-X1T, the industry’s first commercial Wi-Fi 7, device rate up to 18.67 Gbps, Latency ≤ 5 ms, innovative smart antenna technology, one year ahead of industry vendors.

Speaking on the topic titled ‘All-Flash Storage Accelerates Innovation in Your Core Business,’ Senior IT Product Manager Olukayode Adetula Joseph noted that the company offers perpetual, stable, intelligent, and full-featured storage systems to accelerate core business operations across various sectors.

In his second presentation, Joseph spoke on ‘Intelligent Data Infrastructure Transformation Trend: F2F2X 2.0,’ where he outlined four significant trends driving storage innovation in today’s world: real-time data access, diverse data applications, comprehensive data protection, and efficient data storage.

He said Huawei has introduced the F2F2X (Flash-to-Flash-to-Anything) concept, aiming to lead the industry and construct faster, safer, greener, and fully integrated data centres for customers in the future.

In his remarks, Senior IT Product Manager, Huawei Nigeria, Aliyu Isah, who spoke on ‘All-Scenario Data Protection for the Intelligent World,’ stated that the company provides comprehensive data protection solutions, including fast, efficient, secure, and diverse all-flash backup storage products.

He stressed further that the company offers the industry’s first network and storage collaborative anti-ransomware solution, ensuring end-to-end data protection because of the strong demand across industries for data availability, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective storage.

Delivering his presentation on the topic”F5G Evolution, Unleashing Green Digital”, Huawei Nigeria’s Senior OptiX product manager, Osisioma Udochukwu, noted that with the development of network transportation industry, connectivity would play important role in industrial digitization, and optical connectivity is the best choice.

During the event, the company unveiled its optical solutions which include optical transmission and optical access networks. For the respective optical solutions, Huawei also launched the MS-OTN solution and the SingleFAN solution to satisfy the backbone network’s high requirements and for easy and fast deployment. He explained that the essence of introducing these solutions is to build an intelligent optical network in Africa while also taking fibre everywhere.
