Wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Sen Oluremi Tinubu, has said that she served in Kano State forty years ago and returned to consolidate on the forty-year relationship between her and the people of the state.
Mrs Tinubu who visited Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the Government House, Kano, said she studied Biology during her university days and that was why she was posted to the Quarantine Unit of the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) to serve.
The wife of the APC presidential candidate informed the governor that she stayed in the Christians-dominated area of Sabon Gari in the old Nassarawa local government but now in Fagge local government area and was comfortable.
Oluremi said during that period, Nigeria was very peaceful and there wasn’t any issue of insecurity as is being experienced today adding that there was also nothing like taking people to thick forests for ransom or terrorist activities.
According to her, she came to the state alongside the wife of the running mate of her husband Nana Kashim Shettima in order to interface with women and to see how they can be fully engaged and empowered on various trades and skills acquisition.
“The wife of Dr Ganduje, Prof Hafsat Umar Ganduje did a wonderful job. She is an old friend. Through her, we mobilised thousands of them for the town-hall meeting and our discussion was fruitful,” she stated.
Dr Ganduje described the visit as home coming adding that when he learned that Oluremi was on her way to Kano, he planned to receive her warmly although “I wished I was given the ample opportunity to organise a befitting political rally for her more than the one I did for her husband during his visit to the state recently.”
Ganduje said women are an integral part of the society and must be given their roles as mothers and “their long-term agenda of inclusivity in governance must be respected and honoured under the leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
