The director general of press affairs in Government House, Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, has dedicated the prestigious best Spokespersons Communications Award conferred on him by a famous media/public relations non-governmental organisation, Image Merchants Promotion Limited, to his boss, Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State.
Misilli who emerged top and rated best by the panel of judges in the press release category in Nigeria said he was able to clinch the award because his principal, Governor Inuwa, gave him the opportunity to perform effectively.
The award for Misilli was received on his behalf by the Information Officer of Gombe State Liaison Office in Abuja, Mrs Esther Solomon.
Misilli’s excellence, capacity and character were recognised on Thursday at the Security and Emergency Management Award (SAMA) and Spokespersons Communication Award (SCA) conference 2022 held at Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja.
The SCA was instituted to recognize the most outstanding public relations contributions and communications strategies undertaken between 2021 and 2022.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP Weekend yesterday, Misilli who was honoured for demonstrating uncommon credibility and integrity said, “I dedicate this award to my principal, H. E. Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya who provided me with the opportunity and gave me the leverage to perform effectively.
“The Spokespersons Award is an exciting event in my sojourn as a media aide and image maker. The impact it has had on me is immense as it has bolstered my confidence and boosted my morale to incredible limits, serving as a daily reminder to me that the quality of work must always remain perfect.
“I thank my colleagues- journalists covering various media organisations in Gombe State and their editors whose support made it possible for me to achieve this feat.”
Speaking at the award presentation, special adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, who was the chairman of the occasion and also a recipient of an award, commended the organisers of the event, describing them as tested, trusted and reputable partners.
He maintained that it is a tough job to be a spokesperson for government or security agencies in times like this, regretting that many people prefer things in the negative perspectives despite all the positive gains recorded.
He reaffirmed that the present administration will leave Nigeria a safer place, just as he commended the government for the great successes achieved in the fight against insecurity in the nation.
In his presentation, the guest speaker and chairman of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Mallam Muktar Surajo, who spoke on strategic communications for security spokespersons underscored the fact that relationship among Nigerians is at its lowest ebb.
Earlier in his welcome address, the founder of the organization, Yusha’u Shuaib, who is the editor-in-chief of Economic Confidential Magazine said the award was in recognition of their services to humanity and to encourage them to do more.
