Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike said he has no regrets for threatening the governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the comment to cause fire in their states.
Wike who made this known during a political interactive section on Channels television on Friday, explained that what he meant was not physical fire, but the same crisis that the governors allegedly intended to cause in Rivers State.
The former governor of Rivers State, while responding to the call from an elder statesman, Edwin Clark calling the Nigerian Police to arrest him for threatening the PDP governors, said that Clark has no political right to call for his arrest since he is not a member of the PDP.
“I have always tried not to respond to Papa Edwin Clark, I am human, Edwin Clark is not fair. He was governor of River State and he is not from Rivers State, he is from Delta State.
“For crying out loud, is he from my state? Now what is he saying? I am talking about PDP, is he a member of PDP? Let me see his membership card and when he contributed to PDP. Let me see how much he has given to the PDP to fight for the party to win in Rivers.
“I said what I said to the governors’ forum and I repeat without any apology to anybody who is anywhere. For crying out loud, heaven will never fall. When heaven falls, there will be peace.
“You mean as I sit as the Minister of the FCT from Rivers State, I was a governor, the only person I can say that I have no relationship with and I never knew about his election was the governor of Zamfara State. I do not know him and if I see him now, I will not know him,” he said.
Wike reiterated that if other PDP governors want to violate the constitution of the party in Rivers State, he has the power to cause a crisis in other PDP governors’ states because he knew them and they knew him.
“You came up on national television after your meeting, the governor of Bauchi State, the chain of PDP Governors Forum, who came out to read a communique with his colleagues that they are going to make sure that their brother and friend in Rivers State will take over the structure, that it doesn’t matter whether it is illegal or legal, that it does not matter whatever process it takes.
“And I am sitting as the Minister of the FCT, from that state. You look at it that there is nobody in that state and made such a statement and I should fold my hands because you said you are a governor which I was never a governor?
“You look at me and tell me that? You are telling me that I should fold my hand that everything will be well? You are trying to cause fire in my state, what do you think I should do?
“I cannot regret that statement when I did not make any bad statement? It is not violence. I meant that if you want to cause crisis in my political system in my state, you too will also have crisis in your state. I did not say Bauchi and Oyo state will be on fire.
He explained that if the PDP governors did not want his state to be politically stable, they wanted to illegally and unconstitutionally interfere in a legitimate and legal process that was going on and they wanted him to fold his hand because they are governors or chairman of governors’ forum.
“You come to my state, people took forms, people have been elected, people have been sworn in and you will use your position to now say ‘NWC, NEC, no cancel it.’ Who told you I do not have the capacity to tell you too in your states that crisis will be there?
“I am not talking about going to Bauchi to burn the state or going to Oyo to burn the state. You are trying to use your power to cause crisis in my state, no problem. I have the capacity to withstand it. Me too, I have in my little way too. We are all politicians,” he said.
