I Joked About His Height Hours Before He Died — Yul Edochie

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has shared details about the last moment he spent with his first son, Kambilichukwu Edochie, before the boy’s sudden death in 2023.

Speaking during an interview on The Honest Bunch, the movie star said that the day started like any normal day in their home before tragedy.

Edochie said his son came into his room in the morning before leaving for school, and they talked and joked together. He noted that they laughed about the boy’s height, as he had grown very tall and was almost matching him.

He added that his son mentioned how only one student in his class was taller than him, and they both laughed about it before the boy left for school.

According to him, just a few hours after his son left home, he received a phone call asking him to come to the hospital. He said he rushed there without knowing what had happened, only to find his son lying lifeless.

“That was my first son. That morning, he came into my room before going to school. We talked and joked about his height because he was quite tall. He was almost taller than me at the time; we joked about it, and he told me that only one boy in his class was taller than him. We gisted and laughed, then he left. About three hours after they called me, I came to the hospital, and I saw him dead like this,” he said.

The actor described how quickly the situation changed from a happy morning at home to a painful moment at the hospital. He stated that the memory of their last conversation remains fresh in his mind because nothing suggested what would happen later that day.
