Former middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, has defiantly declared, “I might get beaten, but I’d always remain undefeated,” despite his losing streak extending to four consecutive fights.
The Nigerian-born striker suffered a second-round technical knockout (TKO) loss to emerging American contender Joe Pyfer at UFC Fight Night 271 in Seattle, USA, on Saturday night. Pyfer stopped Adesanya with ground-and-pound strikes at 4:18 of Round 2, marking the latest setback for “The Last Stylebender.”
Adesanya, 36, who entered the bout with a 24-5 record, appeared sharp in the opening round, utilising his renowned distance management and counter-striking to dictate the pace. However, Pyfer absorbed the initial pressure, shifting momentum with a series of powerful punches and a takedown.
In the second round, Pyfer pinned Adesanya against the fence, took him to the canvas, advanced to full mount, and unleashed sustained ground-and-pound. Referee Herb Dean intervened to halt the contest as Adesanya was flattened.
In a viral post-fight interview clip circulating on social media, a visibly battle-worn but unbowed Adesanya addressed the crowd. Responding to a question about his future after a fourth straight loss, “The Last Stylebender” asserted, “I will keep going again and again and again and again. I’m not f*ing leaving. You can’t stop me. I might get beaten, but I’d always remain undefeated.”
This defeat, his fourth in a row, raises significant questions about Adesanya’s future in the middleweight division. He had previously lost to Sean Strickland, Dricus du Plessis, and Nassourdine Imavov, who stopped him in February 2025 in Saudi Arabia.
