Former vice president and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has dismissed insinuations that he forged a part of his academic record.

Atiku, who admitted he sat for and passed the West Africa Examination Certificate (WAEC) as Sadiq Abubakar, said he since swore an affidavit to state that Sadiq and am Atiku are the same person.

He added that he studied at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), worked in the Federal Civil Service Commission and the Customs Service as Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku’s disclosure of his academic sojourn was revealed by the director of strategic communications in Atiku’s 2023 presidential campaign organisation, Dele Momodu, on his X handle (formerly Twitter).

Momodu said he reached out to Atiku to throw light on his academic record after “APC busybodies” bombarded him “with allegations of forgery against my Principal, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (GCON).

“I immediately forwarded to him and here is his copious response:

“Yes, I used Sadiq Abubakar to sit for my WAEC and after passing my exams I went to swear an affidavit to say I am the same person as ATIKU Abubakar. I went to ABU as Atiku Abuakar and passed my Exams as Atiku Abubakar.

“Interviewed as Atiku Abubakar by the Federal Civil Service Commission and hired into the Customs Service as Atiku Abubakar. So where is forgery there?” Atiku asked.

Momodu however challenged “The APC social media bullies” to forward the deluge of questions in circulation to their boss and get instant and direct response.
