I Suffered From Blindness For 10 Years — Actress Anne Hathaway

Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway has revealed that she battled a secret medical condition that left her nearly blind in one eye for 10 years.

The 43-year-old Devil Wears Prada star shared the news during an appearance on the podcast, Popcast, where she said that she suffered from an early eye problem called cataract throughout her 30s.

According to her, the condition affected her vision so badly that she became legally blind in her left eye before she finally underwent a successful surgery to fix it at the age of 40.

“This is maybe too much information. I was half blind for 10 years. It impacted my vision so much that I was basically legally blind out of my left eye, and I wound up getting surgery,” she said.

The actress added that she did not realise how bad the situation had become until the medical operation fully restored her sight, describing her current ability to see clearly as a total miracle.

“And I didn’t realise how bad it had gotten until I could finally see the full spectrum. I appreciate vision because I literally feel like every day, I wake up, and I get to see the way that I do, it’s a miracle,” she added.
