‘I Wasn’t Crying Over A Woman’ — Obasi Explains Emotional Podcast Moment

Emmanuel Obasi, the former husband of Nigerian actress Judy Austin, has apologised after breaking down in tears during a podcast interview about their failed marriage.

He appeared on a recent episode of the HonestBunch podcast, where he spoke about the breakdown of their relationship. During the discussion, he also made claims involving actor Yul Edochie, saying Judy Austin showed interest in him while they were still married.

The emotional moment drew attention after Obasi was seen wiping his eyes with a handkerchief on air. The clip quickly circulated online and sparked reactions from viewers.

In a video shared on Wednesday, 17 June, Obasi said sorry for becoming emotional during the interview. He explained that the conversation triggered painful memories.

He said:

“I want to use this opportunity to apologise for crying on that podcast; it was not my fault. I was emotional; I didn’t travel from Onitsha to Lagos to cry. Forgive me and bear with me; something triggered me.”

Obasi has responded to claims circulating online that he cried because of Judy. He said the story was false and misleading.

He explained that he is married. He also said his emotions were about something more personal.

According to him, he became emotional because he wants a closer relationship with his children.

“I also want the world to know I am not crying over a woman; I am only crying over my children,” he added.

Obasi further reacted to online criticism about a handkerchief he was seen with during a podcast appearance.

He told critics to ignore the handkerchief and focus on the point he was making.

“Nigerian men should be careful. Imagine your fellow man comes out crying, saying he wants to see his children; you left the matter, and you were talking about his handkerchief; why not focus on what I am saying?” he said.
