The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared his intention to begin attending Dunamis International Gospel Centre following the commissioning of a pedestrian bridge constructed by the church in Abuja.
Wike made the declaration while speaking at the commissioning ceremony, where he expressed appreciation to the church’s leadership for its contributions to infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory.
The minister said he had never attended a service at Dunamis despite frequently passing by the church’s premises, adding that his experience at the event had encouraged him to begin visiting.
“I’ve been hearing Dunamis, Dunamis. I’ve been passing here. I’ve been seeing Dunamis International. I’ve never come one day, but now we’ll start coming,” he said.
Wike also explained that his decision to attend the commissioning was influenced by his relationship with the church’s leadership, despite being advised against using the occasion for political campaigning.
He recalled meeting the church’s senior pastor and his wife during his first year as governor of Rivers State in 2015.
The minister said the commissioning was an opportunity to appreciate the church for its commitment to public infrastructure, noting that the construction of the pedestrian bridge was a development worth celebrating.
He also thanked the church for acknowledging the role of the FCT administration in granting approval for the project.
The church said the project was intended to improve pedestrian safety and ease movement around its premises.
