President Bola Tinubu has declared that early political activities will not sway him before the next election cycle. He insists that his administration remains “laser-focused” on governance and delivering results to Nigerians.
Tinubu stated this on Wednesday while receiving governors from the North East at the State House, Abuja.
He noted that political distractions were inevitable but assured that his government’s attention would remain fixed on citizens’ economy, security, and welfare.
“Whichever way it is, I am not detracted. I am solidly focused, laser-focused on what is ahead,” the President said.
He commended the North East governors for their collaboration with the federal government in tackling insecurity, observing that conflict in the sub-region was declining and displaced persons were returning home.
He praised the housing projects in Borno and other states, noting that citizens who had lived in camps were now resettling with roofs over their heads.
Tinubu further revealed that the federal government was considering state police as part of efforts to strengthen security at the community level.
According to him, the Civilian Joint Task Force’s role in responding to challenges had shown that local structures could be a critical safety buffer.
The President also praised improvements in education and healthcare, pointing out that school enrolment was rising in the region and that his government had reversed years of neglect in the health sector.
He added that zonal mechanisation and training centres were being rolled out to boost agriculture and achieve food sovereignty.
Tinubu urged the governors to sustain their partnership with the federal government, stressing that collective effort remained the path to building the Nigeria of their dreams.
