A 21-day ultimatum has been handed down to the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, to prove his allegations against the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, over alleged conspiracy with his former Canadian wife to assassinate him.

Traditional rulers from Ife North local government area of Osun State, under the umbrella of Origbo Meje Obas, gave the ultimatum to Oba Akanbi on Thursday, threatening to drag the Iwo monarch to court should he fail to substantiate the claim.

Acting Vice Chairman of the Ife North Traditional Council, Oba Kehinde Adesoji, who is the Salu of Edunabon, while addressing journalists on behalf of other monarchs in the local government area, claimed that the Oluwo was denigrating the stool of the Ooni.

The traditional rulers therefore demanded the retraction of all allegations made by the Oluwo against Oba Ogunwusi.

They described the claim that the Ooni conspired with Oluwo’s ex-wife to poison him as defamatory.

LEADERSHIP recalls that the Oba Akanbi had recently in a viral video accused Oba Ogunwusi of conspiracy to poison him to conceal the role he played for Ogunwusi to ascend the throne as the Ooni of Ife.

Adesoji maintained that Oluwo’s claim amounted to a criminal allegation. “He who alleges must prove. On this note, we are giving the Oluwo of Iwo a 21-day ultimatum to write to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, or sue our father, His Imperial Majesty the Ooni of Ife, over the allegations. Otherwise, the Origbo Meje Obas will take legal action against the Oluwo at the expiration of this ultimatum,” he demanded.
