Igala Monarch Confers Chieftaincy Title On Economist Enemona

The Ata Igala, His Royal Majesty, Dr Alaji Opaluwa Mathew Akpa, has conferred the traditional chieftaincy title of Olimene Ata Igala on businessman and economist, Dr Joseph Onuche Enemona.

The conferment ceremony took place at the Ata Igala’s Palace in Idah, Kogi State, where Enemona was formally honoured in recognition of his elevation within the Igala Kingdom.

Reacting to the honour, Enemona expressed gratitude to God and described the recognition as an ineffable privilege beyond words.

He also thanked the Ata Igala for considering him worthy of the prestigious title, noting that the conferment marked a significant milestone in his life.

Enemona said the new title had transformed him from an iconoclast into a protégé of the Ata Igala Kingdom, describing the occasion as a defining moment in his relationship with the traditional institution.

The conferment also coincided with another major personal milestone, as Enemona formally opened his new country home in Ogugu, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, shortly after his coronation at the Ata Igala’s Palace.

The coronation and housewarming ceremonies attracted several prominent personalities from politics, entertainment, traditional institutions and other sectors.

Among the notable guests was Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, who attended alongside members of his team.

Also present was the former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Dr Edward David Onoja, as well as representatives of the Ata Igala.

The event further attracted the former President of the National Association of Scrap and Waste Dealers Employers of Nigeria (NASWDEN), Mr John Egaji Obeh. The association’s current president was represented by its public relations officer.

Other dignitaries included renowned Igala musician, Alhaji Umaja; Iyeoja Ochogwu; and Chief Mrs Ojoma Cecilia Lawson, Chief Executive Officer of the Ojoma Heart of Gold Humanitarian Foundation.

The gathering brought together traditional, political, business and entertainment figures to celebrate Enemona’s new traditional status and the opening of his country home in Kogi State.
