The inspector-general of police, Usman Baba, has redeployed the FCT commissioner of police, Babaji Sunday.

The new commissioner of police in the territory, Sadiq Idris Abubakar, assumed duty yesterday.

FCT police spokesperson, Josephine Adde who confirmed the redeployment, said CP Sadiq took over from CP Sunday who had been redeployed to another area of assignment.

Sadiq, a member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru-Jos, holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and a Masters of Education in Educational Psychology both from the University of Abuja.

He also holds a Bachelor of Science Education (BSc.Ed) degree in Geography from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.

CP Sadiq while thanking the inspector-general of police for the confidence reposed in him to serve in this capacity, assured  residents of the FCT of a new dispensation of professional policing and improved public safety and security.

He equally warned criminal elements in the FCT to steer clear and commit to legitimate ventures, noting the resolve of the command under his watch to make the therein uncomfortable for crimes and criminality.

He urged residents to continue to support the police, assuring that his work commenced immediately.

In a related development, IGP Usman Baba has ordered the posting of seven commissioners of police to various commands and formations across the country as former force headquarters spokesman, CP Frank Mba, moves to Border Patrol.

The posting was predicated on his recent completion of the senior executive course 44 at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) where senior officers of the police featured prominently.

Force PRO, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the newly posted commissioners of police include CP Sadiq Abubakar to CP FCT Abuja; CP Frank Mba to CP Border Patrol Force, Force headquarters, Abuja; CP Arungwa Udo to CP DFA Force Intelligence Bureau, Force Headquarters, Abuja;
