Holidaying kids have expressed their excitement at taking part in the 2024 Ikoyi Club Easter Holiday Tennis Clinic and Championship which is in its third day.
The kids between the ages of 7-16 years are making the best use of their out-of-school period at the programme and they have been going through the latest techniques in the sport by seasoned coaches at the elite recreational centre.
Khalid Mohammed has been one of the top performers in the developmental programme and he was fully delighted to be featuring again this year.
“I am happy to be playing again this year; I am the champions of the under 7 and the Under 9 categories and I am playing in the under 13 category now. I want to win again because I have been looking forward to this tournament since the start of this year,” he said after the first day of training which featured 55 participants.
Jaden Atebe is also identified as a star prospect following his scorecard in the past few editions on the programme and he wants to improve further in his game.
He declared: “This is one of my best periods of the year because I love tennis so much. My parents are supporting me and I am determined to be a star of the game in the future.”
Also speaking in an exciting tune is Oluwamayomile Orungbeja, the reigning champion in the under 13 category and she said she is happy to be back in the programme which she said has helped her develop her game.
“We were put through lots of things in the past and those things I learnt have helped me improve my game. I feel great to be playing tennis during this holiday period,” she said.
The five-day programme which is in four categories will end on Saturday with lots of goodies for kids who distinguished themselves.
