AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has vowed to strengthen the team and return it to the Champions League.
The Rossoneri turned to serial winner Allegri after the club suffered its worst league finish in a decade, resulting in the dismissal of Sergio Conceicao following five difficult months in charge.
Speaking on the club’s website ahead of today’s pre-season friendly against Arsenal, Allegri expressed his ambition to restore the club’s glory days.
“The goal for this season is to return to the Champions League, as a club like AC Milan must play in Europe,” Allegri told reporters in Singapore, where his team will face Arsenal on Wednesday in a pre-season friendly. “This is my sole objective from the outset. These are the matches the team lives for.
We aren’t looking back; we are focused on the future.”
“It has been more than a decade since I first took charge of Milan. The situation is obviously different now. A lot has changed, not just in Milan but in the world of football.
“However, the overall goal remains the same: to get this club back to where it belongs, and that is the Champions League.”
