The vice chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole(SAN) has announced a plan by the institution to purchase 100 electric vehicles to ease the movement of the students.
He praised the students of the university for staying calm and responsible in the face of the frustrating transportation challenge.
Egbewole gave the assurance in a statement made available to journalists in Ilorin on Wednesday.
“Please be assured that the buses we are expecting are to be delivered within days from now. Because of our empathy for you, our students, the university is making arrangements for at least 100 electric vehicles which we hope will be delivered within days”, he assured.
He acknowledged the spirit of volunteering as displayed by some students and also commended the orderliness they have maintained in the face of the excruciating challenges.
“As I have had the opportunity to address the university community that the need to relocate the park with the measures taken so far, is for our safety and security with other gains in the long run.
It is not to punish our very dear and admirable students but to further protect you and your property “, he added.
He added that the management team was not leaving any stone unturned in ensuring that the transportation challenge is resolved without any delay.
