I’m Not Excited By It – Bloody Civilian Tells Family To Forget About Marriage Plans

Nigerian singer and songwriter Emmanuella Wihioka, popularly known as Bloody Civilian, has said that marriage is currently not a priority for her despite frequent questions from her family.

Speaking in an interview with music platform NotjustOk, the singer stated that her family often struggles to understand her choices as a creative professional. She noted that she does not share the traditional expectations typically placed on women from Northern Nigeria.

According to Bloody Civilian, while her family regularly brings up marriage, she remains completely focused on her career.

“One thing my family still does not understand about being an artist is the fact that certain conventional things that they expect of a woman from the North are simply not things I’m excited to do. For instance, marriage is not something that I am thinking of at all, but that question keeps being brought up.”
