‘I’m Wondering What Is Happening To Me!” Peter Obi Stunned As TikTok Users Flood Live With Gifts

The 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has sparked reactions on social media after making his debut appearance on a TikTok Live session hosted by the Emir Sirdam Show.

Obi joined the live broadcast on Sunday night, October 11, 2026, engaging with young Nigerians and discussing national issues as viewers flooded the session with virtual gifts, stickers and interactive augmented reality filters.

The former Anambra State governor appeared amused by the stream of digital gifts, which reportedly included flowers, lions and universe tokens, alongside playful filters that placed caps, glasses and moustaches on his face.

Reacting to the experience, Obi said with a smile, “I am wondering what is happening to me this evening.”

The remark came as the host explained the various gift items and visual effects appearing on the screen, apparently leaving the presidential candidate surprised by the level of interaction.

The unusual exchange added a light-hearted moment to the broadcast, with viewers using TikTok’s interactive features to engage with the politician.

The session attracted thousands of concurrent viewers and millions of likes, according to details provided about the broadcast, while clips and reactions generated discussions across Nigerian social media platforms.

Obi’s appearance marks another instance of political figures using social media platforms to connect directly with younger audiences outside traditional campaign rallies, television interviews and press engagements.

TikTok Live allows viewers to interact with hosts in real time through comments, digital gifts and visual effects, creating a more informal setting for public engagement.

The broadcast  came as Peter Obi  among other politicians continue to engage with Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general election, using social media platforms such as TikTok to connect with younger audiences beyond traditional campaign rallies, television interviews and press engagements.
