Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the elevation of its public relations officer (SPRO) Adedotun Aridegbe, to the position of comptroller of immigration (CIS).
This is even as 4,851 other officers and men who took part in the 2023 promotion procedure were also promoted.
The comptroller-general of the service, Mrs Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, who made the disclosure in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP explained that the promotion information was sent to her via a letter from the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board, dated August 4, and titled CDCFIB/S.33/VOLIV/75.
Adepoju gave a breakdown of those promoted to include 69 assistant comptroller-general and comptrollers of immigration, 18 assistant comptrollers-general of immigration, 51 comptrollers of immigration and 43 deputy comptrollers of Immigration.
Others, according to her are “520 assistant comptrollers of immigration and 634 chief superintendents of immigration.”
While congratulating the newly promoted officers, she urged them to put the image of the service above personal interests.
She described the NIS as “one of the noblest professions and indeed the first agency that any visitor to Nigeria would accost upon arrival.”
Adepoju noted that the recent elevation is necessary as “any staff who is not well motivated cannot guarantee quality output.”
