The African Democratic Congress, (ADC), Imo State chapter, has recorded a significant milestone with the successful raising of ₦230 million at its maiden Stakeholders’ Summit, held in Owerri.
The landmark gathering held at the ADC Party Secretariat in Owerri, the state capital, marked a decisive moment in the Party’s consolidation drive ahead of the 2027 General Elections as the Summit was presided over by former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa.
The event also attracted influential assembly of eminent politicians, captains of industry, academics, professionals, and respected leaders of the clergy, underscoring the growing breadth and depth of support for the ADC across the State.
In his opening address, the State Chairman of the Party, Prof. James Okoroma, presented a compelling overview of the ADC’s strategic preparedness, announcing that the Party has successfully established functional structures in all 305 wards of Imo State.
Prof. Okoroma highlighted that the ADC is no longer a peripheral political platform but a formidable, grassroots-driven movement poised to challenge and defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
The Chairman emphasized that sustainable funding remains critical to deepening the Party’s institutional presence, strengthening ward and local government structures, and executing an extensive grassroots mobilisation campaign across the state.
According to him, the funds raised at the Summit represent a strong vote of confidence in the Party’s vision, leadership, and capacity to deliver purposeful governance.
Chairman of the occasion, Chief Achike Udenwa, charged Party leaders and stakeholders to embrace unity, discipline, and collective responsibility as indispensable tools for electoral victory.
Chief Udenwa expressed unwavering confidence in the ADC’s prospects, declaring that with cohesion and strategic organisation, the Party would triumph over the APC both at the state and federal levels.
Speaking, former Governor of Imo state, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, urged Party members to intensify their commitment and work relentlessly towards building a winning political machine. He called on leaders and stakeholders to make meaningful financial contributions, stressing that adequate resources are essential for effective political mobilisation and electoral success.
Ihedioha further appealed to the business community and Imo indigenes in the diaspora to rally behind the ADC, noting that their financial and moral support would be pivotal in overcoming prevailing political and structural challenges confronting the Party.
According to him, the resounding success of the Stakeholders’ summit and the substantial funds raised reaffirmed the ADC’s rising momentum in Imo State and signals a new chapter of purposeful organisation, broad-based support, and strategic readiness as the party advances toward 2027 elections.
