Governor Hope Uzodimma has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State to remain united and support the party’s decisions following the recently concluded primary elections.

Uzodimma made the appeal during the party’s expanded stakeholders’ meeting held in Owerri, where party leaders and aspirants gathered to discuss the way forward ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor described the outcome of the primaries as final and urged aggrieved members to accept the results in good faith and work collectively for the party’s success at the polls.

According to him, it is important for Imo State and the South-East region to strengthen their relevance in national politics by delivering substantial votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Uzodimma said the support of President Tinubu had been instrumental to the achievements recorded by his administration, particularly in infrastructure development and social renewal across the state.

“We must work harder to ensure that President Bola Tinubu gets a huge number of votes from this state in the coming election, as a show of gratitude for his sterling performance and especially for his goodwill towards the state and the South-East. It is to the credit of His Excellency President Bola Tinubu that I have changed the face of Imo State for the better,” he said.

Also speaking, the Imo APC Chairman, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, commended aspirants for demonstrating sportsmanship and loyalty following the outcome of the primaries that produced the party’s candidates for various elective positions.

While congratulating the successful candidates, Onyedebelu appealed to those who lost in the contests to remain committed to the party and support its collective goals.

“Now that the primaries have come and gone, I warmly congratulate all those who emerged as candidates of our great party. To those who were not fortunate this time, I appeal for patience and understanding,” he said.

The APC chairman further praised Uzodimma’s leadership, which he said ensured the peaceful and successful conduct of the primaries across the state.

He also commended party members for their discipline and loyalty before, during and after the exercise, urging unsuccessful aspirants to accept the outcome in good faith.

“In every political contest, there can only be one winner,” Onyedebelu said, assuring that all aspirants would be adequately accommodated in the party’s programmes and activities.

Several aspirants who participated in the primaries attended the meeting, including senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly contestants.

Among those present were Chief Longers Anyanwu, Lady Gloria Akobundu and Hon. Ike Kennedy Odoeme, who contested for the APC’s Imo North Senatorial ticket, as well as Dr. Chijioke Kaduru and Hon. Belusochukwu Enwere, who sought the Imo East Senatorial ticket.

The aspirants commended the party leadership for what they described as a transparent, fair and credible primary election process and pledged their continued loyalty to the APC.

Some unsuccessful House of Representatives and House of Assembly aspirants also congratulated the winners and assured the party of their support ahead of the 2027 elections.
