Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has affirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring a secure and conducive business environment for investors so that they can function optimally.

Uzodimma made the promise during the commissioning of the Seraphic Orphanage/Elderly People Home built by Evangelist Chukwuebuka Obi, the founder of Zion Ministry.

The governor, who observed a one-minute silence in honour of the late Pope Francis, said his government would support the Zion Ministry’s settlement in the state, saying their presence would soon improve the state.

The governor said, “Imo State is growing on a daily basis because this adoration ministry will further attract national and international presence to the State, and I encourage other people to come.

“The government will guarantee security, enabling the environment, land, and everything required by investors and for a functional Zion Ministry in Imo State. I encourage the Imo people to give you all their support for this ministry because Lagos will be a child’s play compared to what they will achieve here. If you want more land, we will give you more land.

“We expect you to build more schools and a university in Imo. I commend you for building this place for the elderly and orphans. May the home stand on the power of compassion, love, and care for our people.”

Founder of the orphanage/elderly people’s home, Evangelist Chukwuebuka Obi, said the centre was set up to address the trauma of vulnerability that old people face when they are tagged witches and wizards for growing old.

Obi said, “I decided to set up this place because most of our old people are dying in the village. For those who had no children, nobody is taking care of them, and people call them witches and wizards for living long.

“But the best thing for me is to see these people happy to enjoy their old age until they pass. We are going to replicate it in all the States. Already, there are doctors and nurses employed to care for them. We will take care of all orphans, send them to school and feed them. Everything will be completely free.”

Senator Osita Izunaso, who represents the Imo West (Orlu) zone, commended the governor for supporting the Zion Ministry with land and security.

For his part, the founder of Okunerere Consuming Fire Ministry, Nsukka, in Enugu State, Rev Fr Prof Paul Obayi, said he was working on constructing a home for retired Catholic priests and commended Obi for his vision.
