Ahead of November 11, 2023 Imo State gubernatorial election, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), High Chief Nduka Anyanwu, has called on eligible voters in the State to reject Peoples Democractic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) candidates, insisting that both parties have no good agenda for the state.

The two-time member of the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) asked Imo electorate to ensure the re-election of the incumbent Governor and the candidate of the APC in upcoming gubernatorial poll, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

Anyanwu, who made the call through a statement Wednesday in Abuja, noted that Uzodinma has recorded giant strides in development of the state’s economy and critical infrastructure.

The APC chieftain attested that Governor Uzodinma’s performances superceded that of the other past governments, which were opportuned to preside over the affairs of the state on Nigeria’s assumption into present democracy.

He insisted that the already-achieved socio-economic and infrastructural strides of the current Imo government has given Senator Uzodinma an edge to be re-elected as state governor ahead of candidates of other political parties jostling for the seat in next month’s election.

According to him, “If previous administrations in the state had yielded to pressure to construct roads in the communities, the communities in the state would have all been developed by now.

“But this current state governor, Senator Uzodinma kept his earlier electoral promise to the people to construct the 29km Imerienwe/Upe/Obokwe/Etche Road, which had been abandoned for past 40 years and since the second Republic.

“Again, pevious administrations had tinkered the idea but couldn’t lift a finger on it, but Governor Hope Uzodimma mobilized his contacts and goodwill, and today, the project is a reality,” the Abia party chieftain added.

Continuing, Chief Anyanwu, who was also a member of the disbanded APC Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu/Shettima 2023 Presidency, stated: “The imo governor mobilized his contacts and goodwill to attract the construction of owerri-okigwe road, owerri-orlu road and owerri-mbaise/obowo/umuahia road, which are all federal highways.

“So, what the governor has done deserve commendation. Let me also tell you, Governor Uzodinma did not only get one of such roads but got three. And these democratic gains achieved by him deserved applauses from all and sundry in Imo state,”mhe posited.

The founding APC member also commended Uzodinma for his determination to embark on the Oguta Lake/Orashi River development project, which according to the foremost political juggernaut, would bring a seaport and a free trade zone to area.

Anyanwu described Governor Hope Uzodinma as a servant leader and authentic political pathfinder, saying the latter’s leadership style had redefined governance in imo state.

He partly stated: “Governor Hope Uzodimma who also doubled as Chairman, South East Governors’ Forum had in June this year, intervened in the impasse between the Igbo and Yoruba communities in Lagos State.
“He recognized the adverse impact these issues have had on their businesses and residence in Lagos, as well as the prevailing security challenges faced by both communities.

“The Imo governor promised to personally intervene and address any outstanding differences between the Igbo and Yoruba communities in Lagos, which he did by meeting with his Lagos State counterpart.

“Uzodimma’s intervention showcased his leadership qualities and his genuine concern for the welfare of the Igbo community in Lagos State. By engaging directly with the business community and acknowledging their grievances, he has taken a significant step towards fostering peace and understanding between the Igbo and Yoruba communities.

“Governor Uzodinma is the rallying point that which connects igbo nation to the national government. He has unrelentingly promotes igbo interest. And i would want to use this great medium and opportunity to urge the electorates to rally round the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its gubernatorial flagbearer, Senator Hope Uzodinma in the coming November 11th Imo governorship poll, so as to ensure continuity and consolidation in implementation of development-oriented projects titled to enhancing the welfare of the populaces in the state.”

Anyanwu, the Converner of Oha’ndigbo Youths Worldwide, also reminded the people of Igbo ethnic-nationality at large on benefits in keying into national politics, positing, only the APC can guarantee the collective desire of the southeast of igbo extraction to produce a democratically elected President for Nigeria.

He urged Ndigbo to build bridges across every lengths and breadths of the Nigeria federation to be able to assume the leadership of the country and steer her general affairs.

The South-East party chieftain further called on ndigbo to give highest maximum supports and cooperation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led federal government of Nigeria, so as to enable the present administration continue its steady execution and provisions of completed socio-economic and infrastructural amenities and projects across many urban and rural communities within the southeast and the nation at large.
