Imo Police Nab 5 Suspected Attackers Of Woman In Viral Video

The Imo State Police Command has arrested five men linked to the assault of one Mrs Ndididamaka Agu, at Emekuku in Owerri North local government area of the State.

Police spokesperson, Imo State, Command, DSP Henry Okoye, who disclosed suspects on Monday named them as a 40-year-old Onyekachi Njoku, Chiazor Osuji, 45; Chukwuma Iwuala, 46; Eugene Njoku; and 35-year-old Njoku Emmanuel, all from Uboegbelu in Emekuku, Owerri North local government area.

Meanwhile, the Command has announced manhunt for one of the fleeing suspects identified as Onyedikachi Njoku, currently on the run.

Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, had on November 3, 2025, ordered an investigation into the assault of Mrs Agu by six men as seen in a viral video.

The six men were seen in the viral video allegedly beating the woman repeatedly despite the warning by another woman.

In response to the CP’s directive, Okoye said operatives of X-Squad Unit arrested five suspects linked to the assault.

Further, he said the sixth suspect, identified as Onyedikachi Njoku, was still at large, but operatives were intensifying efforts to apprehend him.

“All five suspects have made confessional statements admitting their roles in the attack. Meanwhile, the sixth suspect, identified as Onyedikachi Njoku, is still at large, and operatives are intensifying efforts to apprehend him”, Okoye said.

Meanwhile, the Imo State Police Commissioner, CP Aboki Danjuma has condemned the assault and restated that intimidation of citizens who lawfully cooperate with the Police will not be tolerated.

Okoye said the suspects will be arraigned in court for prosecution soon.
