The impeachment proceedings commenced by the Ondo State House of Assembly against the State’s deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has taken a dramatic turn on Monday as the Speaker of House, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, has raised the alarm over a fetish object placed at the entrance of his official lodge in Akure, the state capital.
Oladiji called on security agencies to come to his rescue as his life was being threatened over the impeachment process against the State’s Deputy Governor.
The Speaker said he had been receiving calls from strange numbers for over three days.
Speaking with journalists in his office, Oladiji maintained that: “I have been receiving strange calls since the day we began the impeachment notice, but I didn’t count them as something serious.
“It was when I saw a strange object placed in front of my official lodge today that I had to raise the alarm.
“I believe the threat is connected to the deputy governor’s impeachment notice as they see me as the arrowhead.
“I am not alone on this as some members of the Assembly are also receiving threats, especially members from Ilaje. They have been threatened by some people not to come home to Ilaje.”
While speaking on whether he was being pressured by external forces to act in a certain way, the Speaker declared: “I am not under any pressure. Though some people are sending me messages to suppress me, we will do what is right under the law.”
