The governor stated this at the official flag-off of the distribution of farm inputs to 84 agricultural co-operative societies across the 21 LGAs through the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development.

The governor, represented by his Deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, said over 1,000 farmers benefited from improving food security and production through their various registered cooperative societies.

He reiterated that agricultural production and value chain development are among his administration’s genders, believing cooperative societies are vital in producing food for household and commercial consumption.

Governor Fintiri said cooperative societies are significant for economic development and contribute to job creation, poverty reduction, and social integration.

The governor expressed the government’s determination to invest in physical, social, and economic security for the people of the state. He congratulated the beneficiaries and tasked them with using the inputs judiciously in their farming operations to enhance their livelihood activities, reduce poverty, and improve their standard of living.

The Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, Hammanjumba Gatugel, informed the gathering that the ministry was created in 2019 to provide the state’s entrepreneurship development initiative, strategy for entrepreneurship development activities, and facilitation of the growth of business and industry, among other things.

He explained that over 2,000 registered cooperative societies across the 21 local government areas are primarily engaged in various trades, such as farming, trading, tailoring, fashion design, welding and fabrication, barbering and hairdressing, and food processing.
