In its current quest to rid the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of bad eggs, the anti graft commission has detained ten officers of the Lagos Zonal Command over an investigation of some missing items involving them.

This brings the total number of personnel disciplined this week to 37 after sacking 27 others on Monday.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that the officers were arrested last week based on the directives of the executive chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede.

They are currently answering questions about the theft of some operational items they could not account for.

Oyewale stated that investigators are making good progress, and those found culpable will be subjected to internal disciplinary processes.

Just a few days ago, the EFCC announced the dismissal of 27 officers from its workforce who were indicted for fraudulent activities and gross misconduct.

However, the EFCC chairman, Olukoyede, reiterates the commission’s commitment to zero-tolerance corruption, warning that no officer is immune to disciplinary measures.

He said, “Every modicum of allegation against any commission staff would always be investigated, including a trending $400,000 claim of a yet-to-be-identified supposed staff member of the EFCC against a sectional head. The commission’s core values are sacrosanct and would always be held in optimal regard.”
