‘Inaccessible Facility, Patients’ Harassment Bane Of Katsina Health Sector

As Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Development Agency (KTSCHMA) marks its first anniversary, inaccessibility of healthcare and harassment of patients among others have been identified as the major challenges of some general hospitals.

 

The chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Katsina State, Comrade Husseini Hamisu Yanduna disclosed this during the occasion held in Peoples’ Square, Katsina. He said the misappropriation of funds and priorities in the general hospitals continue to hinder the success of KTSCHMA.

 

While saluting the diligence displayed by the management in the implementation of the scheme to about 60-65 per cent achievement in the utilisation of 2.5 percent monthly contribution of workers to the scheme, the chairman urged the concerned authority to intensify effort in addressing the identified factors depreciating the programme rated best in the entire nation.
In his remarks, Governor Aminu Bello Masari thanked the agency for the tremendous achievements so far recorded within the period of establishing the KTSCHMA, adding that three years after signing the bill to establish the scheme to date, 279,270 beneficiaries were enrolled.
