The inauguration of the president -elect of Nigeria is a ceremony to mark the commencement of a new four- year term. The inauguration takes place for each new presidential term, even if the president is continuing in office for a second term.

On May 29, 2023, the President -elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima will be sworn in for a tenure of four years where they will begin to implement and activate policies that endeared them to the people.

Presidential inaugurations are no child’s play. It is a significant event in the history of any nation, hence it is given the utmost diligence it deserves.

The party that sponsored or produced the presidential candidate often play pivotal roles as well , and in this case, the party’s secretariat headed by a former Deputy governor of Osun State and the current National Secretary of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore becomes a beehive of activities.

Omisore, an experienced politician, a grassroots mobiliser and strategist will shoulder the burden between his party and the outgoing administration and will also serve as the nexus Between the president elect and other invited guests.

The international community would be heavily represented and Senator Omisore would have begun his interfacing with significant stakeholders which includes captains of industries, diplomats, core political figures, forner presidents and governors among others.

The critical roles Omisore would play in the incoming administration may not be unconnected to his experience as an expert in infrastructure finance with specialisation in public private partnership. However, he is of the opinion that Before infrastructure can be financed, there must be trust in that infrastructure, its design and costing. But instead of doing more of the technical, we do more of politics. The funders always reason that they are giving you so much money, what are you going to generate?”

In a past interview, Omisore stated that there is no government in the world that can fund infrastructure alone,” he says. “But if it is a private sector partnership with the government, the private investor knows his money must come back to him, and he would be diligent in what he is going to buy. He would look for durable materials. That is why the PPP option is what I have been canvassing. Apart from the fact that the fund is enormous, it brings integrity into the process. It guarantees durability and reduced cost.

So, as May 29 beckons, Senator Omisore will not only play his role as the head of the party’s secretariat but would also commence his relationship with the international community in ensuring that Investments especially in infrastructure takes centre stage in the next administration.
