Yobe State Commissioner of Police CP Garba Ahmed has bolstered security arrangements to ensure a safe and incident-free 64th Independence Day celebration on October 1 across the state.
Police Public Relations Office for the Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement, said in a bid to guaranteed public safety, adequate personnel have been strategically deployed across the state.
The Command urged community leaders, civil society organisations, and youth associations to partner with security agencies in maintaining peace and order during the period.
The command expressed the need for vigilance in view past of experiences where protests led to losses of life and destruction of public infrastructure, noting its preparedness to prevent similar incidents.
However, the statement also cautioned social media influencers, bloggers, and publishers against spreading inflammatory content or inciting public disturbance.
The Commissioner of Police warned individuals or groups intending to disrupt the peace of the state, vowing that they will face swift and decisive action by the personnel.
It urged the public to shun unlawful assembly and destructive behavior and encouraged to report suspicious activities to security agencies, while also calling for cooperation with personnel deployed to ensure public safety.
The Command expressed commitment towards safeguarding lives, properties, and maintaining law and order.
