In an Independence Day message to the residents of Abuja, Wike stressed the importance of unity, resilience, and collective responsibility as key themes for the nation.

According to the minister, Nigeria stands at a crucial crossroads, facing challenges that demand courage and determination, highlighting ongoing issues related to the economy, security, and social cohesion.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for taking bold measures aimed at fostering growth and development across Nigeria, urging residents to support these initiatives.

Wike called for a reflection on the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s founding fathers, whose vision and commitment laid the groundwork for a united nation.

“As residents of the FCT, we occupy a special place in the heart of our nation. Abuja serves as a melting pot of diverse cultures, ethnicities, and traditions, seamlessly coexisting and symbolising the unity of our people from every corner of Nigeria,” he said.

In the light of the challenges facing the nation, the FCT minister urged citizens to take personal and collective responsibility for their communities.

He further encouraged residents to support security efforts, promote peace, protect the environment, and adopt a mindset of solidarity, urging Nigerians to stand together to be their brother’s keeper.

Wike stressed that this year’s celebrations will also serve as an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of the nation’s security forces, expressing gratitude to the gallant men and women in uniform who continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of residents.

The minister reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, enhanced security, and improved quality of life for all Abuja residents.

He emphasised that the administration remains focused on fostering an inclusive society where opportunities abound and no one is left behind.

“Let us celebrate our achievements, honour our diversity, and work diligently towards a future filled with hope and promise,” he stated.
