The Vice Chairman of the Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (IBAN) and former presidential candidate, Shitu Mohammed Kabir, has congratulated Prince Nduka Obaigbena, chairman and Editor-in-Chief of ThisDay/Arise Media Group, on the successful launch of the Lekeelekee App.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Kabir described the new digital platform as “a bold innovation” that reflected Obaigbena’s visionary leadership and enduring commitment to advancing media excellence in Nigeria and across Africa.

“Throughout his distinguished career, Prince Nduka has consistently demonstrated courage, foresight, and an unwavering belief in the power of credible information,” Kabir said.

He added that as Vice Chairman of IBAN and a former presidential candidate, he takes pride in celebrating the achievement, expressing confidence that the Lekeelekee platform “will make significant impact locally and internationally.”

Kabir extended his best wishes to Obaigbena, commending his continued efforts to expand the frontiers of African media in the digital age.

LEADERSHIP reports that the platform is described by its developers as a fast, data-efficient social app designed specifically for emerging digital communities.

According to a statement issued on Monday, LekeeLekee is a social media platform and super app aimed at users in underserved networks, offering features such as low-data, high-speed feeds, video sharing, messaging with voice notes, community groups, and built-in moderation tools.

They emphasised that the project seeks to address the challenges faced by users in regions with limited internet access or underdeveloped digital infrastructure.

“For too long, global platforms have been built far from our realities. LekeeLekee is our answer, a platform that is fast, fair, and open, one that amplifies voices rather than extracting them,” it read.
