INEC Asks Tribunal To Dismiss SDP Candidate’s Petition Against Fintiri

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has asked Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Yola to dismiss the  petition filed by Social Democratic Party (SDP)  governorship candidate Dr. Umar Ardo against the victory of Adamawa State,  Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, and others.

The incumbent governor, Fintiri, who won the 2023 governorship election and his party described Ardo’s petition as abuse of court process and lacking in merit and should be dismissed in its entirety.

INEC, urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition while adopting their final written addresses.

After the adoption of the final addresses by the petitioners and respondents, the tribunal reserved judgement, and said the date for the judgement will be communicated to the parties.

Adopting their addresses, Counsels to 1st to 4th respondents, through their counsels, Leader Leneke, J. K. Gajere, Chief L. D. Nzadon, and M. Abdulwasiu, prayed the tribunal to dismiss the petition.
