INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee Sam Olumekun disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying Ijalaye died Monday after attending the Commission’s regular quarterly meeting in Abuja.

Olumekun said Ijalaye, who hailed from Owo, Ondo State, was born in 1958. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1982 and was called to the Nigeria Bar (B.L) in 1983. He obtained a Master’s in Law (LL.M) from the same University 1995.

He said that until his demise, the deceased, who assumed duty on 23rd February 2022, worked with integrity, was hardworking, and was conscientious.

According to Olumekun, the Commission extended its heartfelt condolences to Ijalaye’s immediate family and prayed that God would grant him eternal rest.
