The Independent National Eectoral Commission (INEC) in Kebbi State yesterday has issued certificates of return to winners of the recent governorship and state assembly elections in Kebbi, Zmfara and Bauchi states.
In Kebbi, 14 elected House of Assembly members collected their certificates.
Speaking while presenting the certificates at the commission’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, the resident electoral commissioner in the state, Barrister Bello Ahmed Muhmud, said three of the 14 recipients won on the platform of the PDP while the remaining 11 were of the APC.
He thanked all stakeholders who supported the commission before during and after the elections.
In Zamfara State, governor-elect Dauda Lawal and his deputy, Mallam- Mani Mallam- Mumuni received their certificates in Gusau, the state capital.
24 assembly members-elect also collected their certificates of return.
17 assembly members were elected on the PDP platform while the APC has seven members.
The governor-elect promised people of the state that their efforts at the polls would not be in vain as his administration would bring positive change and put the state on the path of development.
He urged the people to take advantage of the holy month of Ramadan to pray for the incoming administration to succeed in bringing about the desired development.
Lawal thanked the people, the PDP and friends who made it possible for them to win in the state.
The INEC national commissioner in charge of Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states, Professor Muhammad Kalla, presented the certificates to the governor- elect and his deputy, Mallam- Mani Mallam- Mumuni while the resident electoral commissioner For Zamfara State, Babura Ahmed, presented to the members- elect.
INEC also presented certificates of return to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of the PDP as governor-elect and his deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau.
The commission’s national commissioner in charge of Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states, Mr Mohammed Alkali, reassured of the readiness of INEC to conduct free and acceptable elections for the advancement of democracy in Nigeria.
Others who received their certificates of return are the 31 members- elect of the state assembly.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Mohammed expressed gratitude to the entire people of Bauchi state for the peaceful election and promised to work for economic growth and development.
He reiterated his commitment towards providing good governance for the total transformation of the state particularly in critical sectors of the economy.
Jigawa State governor-elect under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Malam Umar Namadi also received his certificate of return along with his running mate, Engr Aminu Ahmed and 27 members-elect for state House of Assembly.
INEC however withheld the certificates of three constituencies namely Birnin Kudu, Dutse and Yankwashi where their election was declared inconclusive by the commission.
In his speech after receiving the certificate the governor-elect Malam Umar Namadi described his victory as a victory for all good people of the state.
He promised to operate an all-inclusive and a listening government that would take advice and complaints from all people of the state.
